Art for the Soul

Often referred to as a “joyologist” and a “breath of fresh air,” Ashley Orlando is a Baton Rouge-based jazz vocalist and ukulele artist who uses music to help people connect to joy in their lives. A classically trained soprano, Ashley fell in love with the creativity and playfulness of jazz as a kid. But it wasn’t until she traded the comfort of her native Louisiana for a taste of adventure in Europe and discovered her now trademark ukulele that she started exploring this dream genre. Today Ashley’s warm, angelic voice evokes a more glamorous era. Her tight phrasing and pitch-perfect melodies transport audiences to a time when the standards flowed live into homes from the big-city studios and grand hotels. Her haunting renditions do honor to the originals and bring a fresh, contemporary twist to traditional jazz, swing standards, French chanson, and the Great American Songbook.
